I still remember the random days when my Mom would slip in a ding-dong. Tie it onto a little treat and imagine the smiles they’ll deliver when they see it tucked away in there. For everyone who wants to take advantage of their kids being young enough to not be embarrassed by an adorable note tucked in their lunchbox- these are for you. That being said, I’m trying to mentally start switching gears and start thinking about all of the stuff I need to do, like buying 47 bottles of glue for each of my kids’ classes (WHY SO MUCH GLUE?) and making sure they have shirts and shoes since they’ve pretty much been living barefoot and shirtless since June.Īnd then I get on the internet and see all of the super-mom stuff I’m for sure not thinking of, like themed first-day-of-school breakfasts and beginning of the year teacher’s gifts (Huh? That’s a thing?) So if anyone else is in that boat- here’s an easy one for you. (That doesn’t stop me from lighting pumpkin candles in July I also eat candy canes in April, but forget that-I’m making a point here.) I’m not ready for the crayons and lined paper to be replacing the BBQ and outdoor furniture section at Target yet! It’s like pumpkin candles in July just seems out of place. I grew up in Seattle, where school never started before Labor Day, so all of this go-to-school-during-August stuff really throws me off. We’re officially on the back-to-school countdown my kids head back to the classroom in about 2 weeks and I think Kate’s are starting at the end of this week. ![]() Project created by Allison McDonald of No Time For Flash Cards for Scotch® Brand and Post-it® Brand.Someone please tell me what happened to summer break. The note will stay on without it, but it’s a fun way to add more color and make sure that your child notices and reads the note!Īs you can see, I had fun with the different colors.Īll in all, I can’t wait to send these little notes to school with my daughter. Step 3: Finally, after you write out your note, add a little Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape. Naturally, and of course, with a little help, they can make it stick! The goal of writing these notes with sight words in them is to give your child that many more chances to read and practice these words. The note doesn’t have to only use sight words but try to have at least one per note. If your school doesn’t use Dolch lists, accordingly use the lists they do provide. I created these notes using the lists for Pre-K and Kindergarten: Step 2: Next, refer to the Dolch sight word lists for your child’s age group. Post-it® Super Sticky Notes (I’m currently obsessed with the Miami Collection & Rio De Janeiro Collection) But then, I settled on this simple idea because my daughter loves lunchbox notes. Yep, lunchbox notes packed with sight words! When 3M asked me to share a back to school idea in a sponsored post using their products, of course I had 1000 ideas because I use Post-it® Notes like crazy ( seriously, here’s the proof). ![]() As you might imagine my idea of flair also comes with a learning agenda.
